Chapter 5

“My name is Dagarus, I am here to kill you.”

Both Raven and Midael looked up at the huge Dragon in a mix of amazement and fear. It stood taller than an elephant; it’s scaled forming thick armour over its whole body. It had a tail with jagged spikes, most likely able to cut through solid steel. This creature could be described as nothing more, nor less than a Dragon. Raven looked at it, many thoughts swimming through his head. Both Raven and Midael were scared, A huge beast, worthy to make the titans tremble, here to kill them. Raven looked at Midael, Midael looked at Raven. Raven drew his sword and Midael took fighting stance, they were going to have to beat this thing, one way or another.

“Raven, I’m going to run and falcon-punch it, while it is distracted, use your sword.”

Raven nodded at Midael in a sign of recognition, it was their time to act. Dagarus opened his mouth and a huge stream of fire came hurtling towards Raven. Midael forced it away with PyroKinesis and began to sprint at the beast. Fists clenched, dodging fire-breath the whole time; Midael was determined to get his attack in. He leapt high in the air and came crashing down with a vicious fist on Dagarus’ head. Raven got his sword ready, the time was now. He ran at the Dragon with tremendous speed, only achievable by a vampire. Raven drew back his sword and aimed for the throat. He lunged his sword as hard as he could.

Nothing. The sword didn’t do anything. It couldn’t even penetrate Dagarus’ thick armour. Midael chuckled

“I knew it wouldn’t be that easy!”

Midael wasted a moment humouring the situation, with a split second wasted; Dagarus swung one of his huge legs at Midael. It caught him square in the sternum and Midael was sent flying and gasping for breath. A few seconds were spent, bulleting through the air, before Midael’s flight was finally cut off by crashing into a tree. Raven stood underneath Dagarus, quite frankly, scared shitless. Dagarus swung his spiny tali at Raven, but it was easily dodged by his exelent agility. He back flipped over the tail and sprinted over to where Midael was lying. Midael was spitting blood. He was obviously in a lot of pain.

“Raven, This guy is pretty tough. We’re gonna need a new strategy.”

“A new strategy!? We need a whole new bloody opponent! This guy is unbeatable!”

“Don’t think that way, Raven, we can beat him if we work hard enough.”

“LOOK AT YOU! YOU’RE COUGHING UP BLOOD AND WE HAVE BARELY BEEN FIGHTING THIS BASTARD FOR FIVE MINUTES!”

“Calm down, Raven. If we keep a negative attitude we’re never gonna go anywhere. Lets just stay positive. I can heal myself. We just need a new approach.”

“This guy is here to kill us, Mid. He isn’t going to stop at anything. He is coming at us right now.”

Both Midael and Raven stood up. They had no time to waste. If they were to beat this thing, they were going to have to do it now. Dagarus began to sprint towards them. They braced for impact.

Just as Raven and Midael thought that they were about to die, Dagarus was telekinetically smashed out of their path; simply knocked away. It was a miracle, a wonderful life saving miracle. Somebody had just saved their life. Midael shouted into the air,

“Whoever did that, if they’re here to stop that thing; they better get out her now, he’s getting up!”

Out of the surrounding forest stepped three people, one male, and the others female. These were the people that had just saved them. They were wearing expensive looking mercenary gear and they looked human.

“Not from any of the major clans, I’m guessing” Midael said.

“No, we’re mercenaries. We just go with the flow. You can call us the Skyshots.”

Midael walked over to the male one and shook his hand

“The names Midael, my brother over there is RavenArrow, call him Raven.”

Raven nodded in his direction.

“Well I’m Samuraion, just call me Sam. My sisters over there are Jaden and Cura”

The girls waved.

“Well” Midael said as he wiped his face “We better start cracking if we wanna beat that big bastard”

“Lets do it”

Dagarus was up by now, and walking over to where his five opponents stood. He was obviously seething with rage. This was going to be a hell of a battle. The Skyshots stood back, they were going to be Psionically attacking. Raven and Midael preferred the more physical approach. Midael threw RavenArrow a dagger, capable of penetrating the thick, scaly armour. Of course Midael preferred his strong fists to any old weapon. The Skyshots were telekinetically roughing up Dagarus, and Midael was sure he saw a fireball or two. Samuraion shouted to Midael to strike. All of the Skyshots hit Dagarus with an electrokinetic blast. Dagarus was stunned. Midael took advantage of this time and smacked Dagarus in the jaw with a strong uppercut. While Dagarus was recovering from the blow, Raven stabbed him nicely in the torso with his dagger.

Midael and Raven retreated, dodging fire blasts and swing limbs. They backed up to where the Skyshots stood and prepared a plan. They were going to finish off this beast once and for all. The Skyshots telekinetically restrained Dagarus, preventing any movement whatsoever. Midael ran at full spped towards the beast, screaming his head off the whole time, like a true warrior. Raven was sprinting too, just not in the same direction. Midael landed a crazy combo of punches directly to the Dragon’s head. Raven was the one that finished it off. He jumped on the monsters back and ran up to his head. He drove the dagger through its skull multiple times, killing it almost instantly. Dagarus dropped dead on the floor. It was finnaly over. The Skyshots turned and walked back the way they came. Midael shouted over at them.

“Wait, who hired you to save us!”

The all turned around and said in unison:

“We’re not authorised to tell you that.”

With that, Cura shifted into a Phoenix and flew away. Midael was astonished.

“A shifter! I never thought I would see one in my lifetime.”

Raven turned to Midael

“Where there hell did you get that dagger from?”

“You don’t wanna know little bro. Now come on, we need to hurry up and get to Dragon Rider territory. Brace yourself, they know we’re coming.”

“How do you know that?”

“Why else would they send one of their most highly trained warrior dragons at us?”

“Good point”

Midael and Raven walked over to the Dragon Rider territory. They both knew in their minds that tomorrow was going to be a very long day. Raven looked over the hill that they were climbing, he could see the city of the Dragon Riders in the distance…
