Website Rules

This article was written by Eric-Baal on 2011-11-06 under Member Pages.

Please review the following guidelines for conduct prior to participating in any interactive portions of the website. All members, old and new, are expected to be familiar with and adhere to these guidelines. Ignorance to the rules is not a legitimate excuse for misconduct. Rules are subject to change, and while we are generally good at announcing such changes, the responsibility ultimately falls on the member to keep aware.

Rule Section A:

1) Respect all administrators and moderators (MyTk Staff). You may not unduly argue with a staff member, either publicly or privately. Administrators (particularly the site founder) are the final word on what constitutes a breaking of the rules. If you are banned, you may file an appeal with the admins. If the appeal is accepted, you will be put probationary status. Belittling, berating, or otherwise hostile treatment or disrespect of any staff member will automatically get you banned with a no return clause. If you are banned by an administrator, you may not file an appeal with a moderator. Going behind the admins’ backs will get you automatically re-banned, and disciplinary actions will be taken against the moderator as well.

2) Contribute to the Community. This can be done in a number of ways:

Stay active in discussions on our forum and website. Members with less than 5 posts thirty days after account activation maybe subject to account purging. It will be assumed, should your account appear inactive and underused, that you do not wish to be a part of the community any longer. As such, your account may be purged (not banned).

Members are encouraged to submit work for the article content of the site. This can be done in the appropriate sub forum on our site forum or category on main site.

Contributing to chat is a fantastic way to engage others, stimulate our minds, and keep our site going strong.

3) Harassment, threats of harassment, discriminatory or overly-disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. While we are open to a good, hefty debate, there are specific places on MyTk for such debate. In the other channels, we expect you to be courteous and respectful to everyone. Please keep in mind that statements made are peoples’ opinions. As such, people shouldn’t have to put a disclaimer in front of everything they say, and if it gets to that point, we will remove troublemakers. Name calling, finger-pointing, threats, removal of content without contacting the staff for approval, and anything else that disrupts the peace of the site will be dealt with by removal.

4) You are expected to exhibit a degree of honor, integrity, and dignity on this site. This means the following things:

This site is pretty relaxed compared to some, with a general live-and-let-live attitude. Everyone goes through a minor fluff phase as they awaken, and we won’t punish anyone for that. However, extreme flights of fantasy will not be indulged here. Further, any member suspected of trolling activity will be swiftly dealt with.

Whining will not be tolerated. We are here to help and support each other. However, excessive pity-seeking distracts us all from our primary cause of helping those who truly need help. Respect the members of this site, and yourself, by keeping this sort of behavior in check. Failure to do so will be considered as disruptive behavior.

Boasting will not be tolerated. Making a statement in order make yourself look important, special, or exceptionally qualified to make a particular statement will considered boasting, whether regarding spiritual or earthly credentials. When posting on a serious topic, please do so in a respectful and sober manner. Failure to adhere to this rule will be considered as disruptive behavior.

Grilling and mockery will not be tolerated. Everyone’s ideas and beliefs are understood to be subjective. Elaborate claims may be looked upon with polite skepticism, but outright hostility will be dealt with via ban.

This is sacred space for others to meet and discuss their ideas and memories, without having to front with a disclaimer. We believe in the beauty of Unverified Personal Gnosis (UPG), and encourage this to be shared, in order to help all members learn and grow. When you share ideas, do so kindly and with respect for another person.

You may not, at any time, attempt to convert someone to your religion or belief system. This place is sacred ground, but it’s also neutral. We have people from all faiths here, and they don’t appreciate conversion attempts.

Crude jokes and suggestive language are not appropriate. Casual flirting and PG-13 jokes are fine, but anything else will result in punishment at the staff’s discretion.

Excessive profanity is not appropriate. We will let you know when your harsh language is going to far. Multiple instances may result in a temporary ban.

Your offsite conduct counts. Those who show a pattern of gross misconduct on other sites will not be met kindly. Furthermore, MyTk members are expected to be mature and responsible outside of our site. Any action outside of MyTk that degrades the integrity of our site will be at risk for disciplinary action. We want things to be as harmonious as possible, and MyTk so far has an upstanding reputation for the care of our members and the respect we generate for ourselves. You are expected to uphold this reputation on the site and in your personal lives.

5) One account per body. We do not allow any single body to have multiple accounts for any reason. If you are a complex multiple system, please share one account, and sign your post with whoever is fronting at the time of writing. If you have been banned from the site, you may not register for a new account. If your account has been purged due to inactivity, you may still re-register — please do so using the same account name you had before.

6) Spelling and grammar. This forum is in English, but bear in mind that it’s a very big world – some speak English as a second language. Please be considerate and keep your words easy to understand. Vast grammatical errors will not be tolerated. Proper capitalization is also appreciated. The occasional typo is understood, but please be reasonable. If your writing is painful for members to read, you will be asked to revise your typing in a word processor with a spelling and grammar checker, or you will be asked to leave.

7) Public relations are dealt with by the founders only. No one else may act as an official spokesperson for MyTk. Visitors from other sites will respect this rule. Also, no visiting administrator or mod from any other site is authorized to act as such on MyTk.org without express written permission from all founders.

8) Founders are available by appointment only. This includes member crisis situations, interview requests, and so forth. To request an appointment, you may email MyTkForum@yahoo.com. We will respond as soon as we are able.

9) Public events and MyTk functions operate under this same rule system. Violating any of these rules in an MyTk related activity will get you immediately banned from the site and from future MyTk events.

Guidelines for Posting and Commenting.

Thank you for your contribution with your post or comment! Authors of a story and articles generally appreciate getting feedback on their article or story. Remember that your post will be read by thousands eventually, so here are a few guidelines to using our comments sections:

Articles should:

1)       Contribute substantive information to MyTk.

2)       If purely theoretical, be noted and invite outside assistance in realizing the procedure.

3)       Invite intellectual debate on a topic – keep it civil.

4)       Ask for help with real problems.

5)       If creative writing, be sure to be in ‘Novels and Stories’.

6)       Include proper grammar. Horrible masses of long texts with misspelling and no punctuation is not the same as having a few spelling errors.

Articles should not:

 1)       Contain unsubstantiated information.

 2)       Theory passed off as fact.

 3)       Procedures taken from fiction as is, passed off as fact.

 4)       Be tributes to your ego; no one cares how powerful you ‘think’ you are.

 5)       Ask for scans/readings/sensing/whatever you want to call it; this is not what articles are for.

 6)       Repetitive talk of the veil crashing. This starts too many flame wars.

 7)       Suggest every natural occurrence is in some way supernatural.

 8)       Suggest every whim of imagination is somehow related to psionics.

 9)       If you read it and you say to yourself ‘wow, this seems unbelievable’, and it goes against other points I’ve mentioned, it will likely be deleted. Keep in mind that there are many people of varying degrees of experience here. You aren’t going to bullshit anyone with imagined discoveries of abilities no one has heard of, nor will we indulge flights of fancy or super secret special little snowflake abilities.

 10)   General frivolous/spam articles. This is subjective to the mod’s prerogative. The mods know what this site aims for, and therefore will take the necessary steps to ensure the integrity of the site.

SHOUT BOX (SB) – Most of this applies to SB as well. As the most readily seen aspect of MyTK, SB more than articles give newcomers a look into what MyTk is. If you are doing things in SB that make us all look bad then the mods will take measures. Much more leeway will be given here, as SB is a way for us all to relax and joke around with each other.

This is not to say that you can’t have an original opinion, or know things that other people don’t. The general way of things is that people that have gained skill in certain areas generally aren’t bragging about their skill or having ego trips. So if you are, you probably won’t be taken seriously, and neither will your articles.

Don’t be afraid to talk or offer up ideas. The heavy moderation this article is speaking of is with articles that very noticeably do NOT fit with the aims of this site.

We invite the exchange of ideas here, but at the same time we want to be grounded firmly in reality. And as much as psionics or magic seem to bend the rules of reality, things work in repeatable ways to an established pattern—or else you couldn’t have spells or techniques.

Also keep in mind that the moderators were appointed by the owner, or a proxy of the owner with the given influence to decide what is best for the site. You do NOT have an inherent privilege to post articles here. Anything done on this site is subject to the discretion of the moderators. Fair or unfair do not apply. While this sounds harsh, what is fair is purely a subjective idea in regards to the site’s workings. In the past some people have erred with the idea of possessing ‘rights’ on this site.

With all that said and done.

PLEASE BE SURE TO KEEP A COPY OF YOUR ARTICLE!

If you feel that your article was wrongly deleted, please appeal to a mod and tell us why. It’s always possible that having insight into the idea behind your article may let us change our mind.

Please understand these measures are to bring MyTk back to a serious place for people to exchange ideas and communicate with each other. But the current state of things seems to drive more serious people away and promote role play rather than promote practices grounded in rational thought and the analytical process.

As a general rule, posts should be on topic and related to an author's story. If you have something entirely unrelated to say, please use your own story to do so. Comments may gradually get off track a bit, it happens, but don't jump in a story with a completely different subject, or worse, just to promote commenting on your own story. Also, make sure to read the previous posts before publishing yours.

If you new members have a topic you need to look up go to the Search Bar and type what you’re looking for. It helps you not posting a post that has been posted before.  We don’t like clutter and repeat posts.

Rule Section B:

· 1    Posts that are abusive, vulgar, insulting or spammy will be deleted. If a person persists in posting such messages numerous times, they will be blocked / banned from this site. We also reserve the right to delete comments that are juvenile, off-topic, very poorly written, unintelligible, and incoherent, messages all in UPPERCASE or with every first letter capitalized, and anything that looks like promotional material.

·2     Please don't reply to abusive messages. I will delete them in time and your reply will not make any sense for future readers. Don't forget that trolls feed on your attention. If I missed one, you're free to notify me or MyTk Staff via our contact page (make sure to indicate the page).

·3     Do NOT post links that would be inappropriate for the general public, or are against the law, to sites about porn, gambling, software pirating, virus, spam, etc.

·4     This is not a chat room, so avoid abbreviations and SMS language ('u' instead of 'you', 'n' for 'and', 'coz' for 'because' etc) as it is juvenile and unreadable. We want to have mature conversations about the delicate topics here on MyTk; using TXT talk only attracts the intellectually lazy crowd. We would really like to have zero tolerance for this and posts containing these types of abbreviations will be edited on the spot. We are trying to make sure that someone has actually something to contribute when they make a post, this way, the comments section doesn't look like a trashy MySpace / YouTube page full of 'Cool' and 'That's Hot'.

·5    HTML code is not allowed. We keep it simple. For URLs, simply paste the address and we will turn it into an HTML link automatically (No outside promotional links allowed; this includes clan/guild websites). If you post your email address, you will notice that we obfuscate it so spam bots do not pick it up (ex: yourname@domain.com becomes your name [at] domain.com). Otherwise, you may end up receiving spam in the future.

·6     Psionics, Kinesis, and other abilities can be a sensitive subject and is not accepted by mainstream society. People publishing their stories deserve to be addressed with respect to this web site can be a safe haven for people wanting to share their experiences and articles. If you disagree with the authenticity and the veracity of a story, you can express your opinion, as long as it is respectful ('I have another theory for what happened', 'I do not believe this to be true because...’ etc). However, you cannot be abusive toward the author ('your story is lame', 'you're a liar', 'you're wasting our time', etc).

·7     We would appreciate it if you reviewed it at least once for misspellings. If you don't know how a word is spelled, just check with an online dictionary. Even better, modern browsers (Firefox, Chrome, etc) have a built-in spell checker for text boxes on web pages. To people telling us 'this is not an English class', that's the point, we expect users to have successfully passed those and be able to write correctly. Bad spelling tends to drag down the level of intelligence in a discussion and discourage serious people and experts from contributing.

· 8    If you are referring to an article on another web site, do not quote it entirely, as it is usually a breach of their copyrights and will take too much space in the comments area. Find the relevant part, paste that sentence/paragraph between quotes and indicate where it was taken by adding the web link.

· 9    We don't mind getting the skeptic's point of view, as long as you are respectful and tolerant.

·10     If you are the author of a story, please be aware that users of our site, many from different backgrounds and cultures, will provide feedback to your story and you may not personally agree with all of their comments. However, it is the nature of the web to have debates with very different opinions, and although you may be the only person who truly knows what happened in your story, you should not take it personally when some users disagrees or ask for additional information, but understand that it is part of normal discussions where people exchange ideas.

·11     This site offers discussions on the topic of Kinetics, ESP, PPP, EM, and other abilities, with people coming from various cultures, so please avoid proselytizing or preaching, unless the author of a story specifically asks to receive feedback from that religious perspective. This site is not about religious beliefs, it is about actual personal experiences, questions, stories, and exploring reality with an open and investigative mind so we can actually learn more about the paranormal, spiritual, and physical sides of things, with the same empirical mindset that made science so successful in other fields. Religions have a lot of wisdom to offer in terms of personal spirituality, but they can also limit our knowledge of the world with old superstitions and unproven dogmas. It's fine to share what your religion has to offer as a possible explanation, but everyone has their own, they certainly don't come here to be converted, so please, don't push it on others as irrefutable fact.

·12     If you have a question related to a story, please ask it directly in the comments area instead of dropping your email and asking the author to email you, so that everyone can benefit from the discussion. Please do not copy paste the same post under different stories (If it’s a bump post please inform one of the moderators so they can delete the original). Each one of them are different and deserves a personal feedback. Also, do not simply request people to read your stories. Your feedback should be about the author's stories, not yours. It's fine to mention it if they are related, but the message itself as a whole should be about the author's experience. Finally, the comments section is not a recruiting tool for your particular group or organization, please don't constantly ask people to contact you for more information instead of helping directly, once or twice is enough but after that it’s considered spam.

·13     This site is for the general public. No sexually explicit content is allowed. You can mention a sexual experience with general terms, but there really is no need for technical details.

·14     Posts are considered the opinion of the poster, and are not necessarily endorsed or approved by mytelekinesis.com. When posting on mytelekinesis.com, you grant perpetual non-exclusive rights to mytelekinesis.com to republish, in any form, the posted material. Once posts are published, they cannot be deleted, unless you present a reason that we consider valid, as deleting a member's post would damage the integrity of our archive and reduce the value of this resource to members and visitors. You are responsible for what you post on the web, so please don't ask others to undo your actions.

The use of proxy servers is illegal to our terms of service, all users found using them; their articles will be deleted and accounts will be BANNED, and MAC Address BANNED.

BY POSTING ANYWHERE ON THIS WEBSITE AFTER YOUR ACCOUNT HAS BEEN CREATED ALL USERS HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING POSTING RULES.

--THIS IS THE EULA (END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT)-- Rule Section C:

1) You may not abuse, harass or threaten another user or authorized representative of MyTk, including customer service personnel and volunteers. This includes, but is not limited to: sending excessive e-mails, PM‘s; obstructing MyTk Employees from doing their jobs; refusal to follow the instructions of a MyTk Employee; or implying favoritism by a MyTk Staff.

2) You may not use any abusive, defamatory, ethnically or racially offensive, harassing, harmful, hateful, obscene, offensive, sexually explicit, threatening or vulgar language. (Alternate spelling or partial masking of such words will be reprimanded in the same manner as the actual use of such words.)

3) You may not organize nor be a member of any corporation or group within MyTk that is based on or advocates any anti-ethnic, anti-gay, anti-religious, racist, sexist or other hate-mongering philosophies.

4) You may not use “role-playing” as an excuse to violate these rules. While MyTk is a persistent community, the claim of role-playing is not an acceptable defense for anti-social behavior. Role-playing is allowed, but not at the expense of other users. You may not create or participate in a clan or group that habitually violates this policy.

5) You will report out-of-website issues regarding harassment, such as threatening phone calls or correspondence, to your local law enforcement officials or Internet provider. MyTk will not reveal personal information about its members to unauthorized individuals. We are not responsible for actions taken by our members that occur outside the jurisdiction of our web site.

6) You may not violate any local, state, national or international laws or regulations.

7) You may not impersonate or present yourself to be a representative of MyTk Staff.

8) You may not advertise, employ, market, or promote any form of solicitation – including pyramid schemes and chain letters – on the website or chat room.

9) You may not arrange for the exchange or transfer of any illegal or pirated software or other contraband while you are using the chat or website.

10) You may not transmit or upload through the chat room or website any copyrighted material that you do not own all rights to without the express written permission of the author or copyright holder.

11) You may not communicate, post or publicize any member’s personal information within the MyTk chat room or website.

12) You will not attempt to decipher, hack into or interfere with any transmissions to or from the MyTk website, nor will you try to create or use any third party add-ons, extras or tools for the website, or exploit any known glitches.

13) You may not share your account password with anyone. Infraction of this rule is done at your own risk.

14) In compliance with The Children’s Online Privacy Act of April, 2000, we cannot provide membership to individuals under the age of 13. If you are under the age of 13, you may not create a MyTk account without parental consent and you are not eligible to enter contests or promotions (if there is any).

15) You will not encourage others to break these rules or any rules set forth in relation to the web sites TOS.

2- No external links to other websites. Internal website links are accepted.

3- Articles should remain on topic, do not "hijack" replies.

4- Do not open a new article that duplicates a current topic.

5- Flame baiting, flaming, being abusing, being disrespectful, trolling, spamming or posting to incite or annoy is not allowed. If you cannot make a positive contribution to the article, then just stay out of it.

6- Members are asked to not act as "back seat moderators". If you feel a reply or article violates the website rules, then PM a moderator to report it.

7- Posting pornographic or generally offensive text, images, links, etc. will not be tolerated. This includes attempts to bypass the profanity filter.

8- All articles and replies, on the website, should be made in the English language.

YOU AGREE THAT THESE RULES WILL APPLY TO ANYONE THAT YOU GRANT PERMISSION TO ACCESS YOUR MYTK ACCOUNT OR USER INFORMATION. YOU AGREE THAT YOU WILL BE HELD PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONSEQUENCES (WHICH CAN INCLUDE ACCOUNT TERMINATION) THAT MAY RESULT IF ANY SUCH PERSON BREAKS THE RULES DESCRIBED HEREIN.

ARTICLES AND REPLIES MAY BE EDITED, DELETED, OR LOCKED FOR VIOLATIONS OF THESE RULES.

YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE TERMS SET FORTH CAN RESULT IN THE IMMEDIATE TERMINATION OF YOUR ACCOUNT.

I think role playing should be gotten rid of. Otherwise, the shout box will be filled with retarded stuff about how some dude is shaft smashing another dude or something.

It attracts a less serious crowd that many users don't want.

I've never seen #4 enforced on any member. Ever. Not even when it was needed.
By: fgopl - 2012-05-21 18:54:53
Does #4 apply to mods, too?
