The Hidden:ch14

2010, April 14

Location: Dara detention facility and state prison

Approx time: mid day 

 

The heat outside was so intense. Just a few seconds was enough for me, but the inside was worse. No a.c. and a bunch of sweaty guys makes a prison smell bad. Being outside is your only other option. I was hanging with some friends of mine outside and with Jamie. 

Someone called my name, 'Alex!' I turned around. It was a guard. 'yes sir' I said. 'The warden is ready for you boy'  said the guard. 'You mean-' the guard interupted me. 'Yes, yes hurry up and say goodbye to your friends here. It's hotter than hell out here and I don't wanna stand out here any longer than I should!' 

I turned to Jamie. 'w-well' I said. 'Man I don't wanna leave you. Not right now. Not like this!' replied Jamie. 'you're not the one leaving, I am' I said. 'yea well you're still my best friend.... I wish you could stay a little longer at least. I've been trying to spend all day today with you.' said Jamie. 'Hey! Shit face! Hurry the hell up!! Am I going to have to beat you?!' I replied instantly, 'no sir.' I turned back towards Jamie sad and worried. 'tell Nicholas I said if he ever gets out..' the guard took me by my arm and started pulling me back towards the prison. 'what the fuck man!' I shouted 'shut up, you were wasting time.' I shook myself free. 'Get off of me!' I shouted. The guard pulled out his baton and got ready to fight me. 'you little brat!' he said. I put my fists up ready to fight back. 'common I don't wanna fight, I just want to talk to my friend real quick!' truth is, I kinda didn't care. I was about to die anyways so I wouldn't have cared what happened to me or anyone else for that matter. The guard started to walk slowly toward the side and I copied his movements. He came at me and swung his baton. My heart jumped and in that moment, everything became different. Everything shifted into a different state. For a split second, it was like the world slowed down. I swear that's what happened. I dodged his swing, and punched him in his ribs. He stumbled and came at me again. I immediately dodged his attack and followed it with another blow to his ribs and another to his kidney. The inmates circled us and started shouting and cheering us on. I could hear what everyone was saying, and everything seemed so crisp. My vision was like an eagle, and all my other senses sharpened. I figured it was my adrenaline that was flowing through my body. I continued going around in circles with the guard and then realized one big problem.... Jonas. He was up in his tower and the last time I saw him, he was napping. I looked over at his tower real quick and saw he was moving about, and then I saw he got ahold of his gun. A pain shot my jaw, as I turned around. The guard hit me one good time and I stumbled back into the inmates. They threw me back in. I was all sweaty and so was everybody else. I swung at the guard and hit him in his eye and I heard a click. It came from behind me. I turned around and in that moment, everything became slow again for a split second. But for some reason, that split second felt like a whole minute. Everything went slow, including me. So moving faster wAs really hard. It felt like I was in a mud pit and my movement was slowed greatly. I pulled my head back and to the side. I felt like I was dodging something but I honestly didn't know why. But at the same time, I kinda did. I pulled and pulled until my whole head was tilted away from Jonas. I saw something slowly pass my face. I shot my eyes towards it just in time to see what it was... A bullet... A huge bullet... One that could only come from one gun in the world.. Jonas's Hit 102. The bullet teardrop into the ground and instantly, everything went back to normal speed again. I turned to look at Jonas and I heard someone call from the prison. 'What the fuck is going on over here!!' everyone stopped and looked. It was manny. He walked over towards us. He looked at me and 'superman' punched me. I was out...
