Rialian's Thoughts on Personal Development

Following is an excerpt from a spiel that I normally give to students when I have finished teaching them (its only happened a few times). I believe that it needs to be heard here, as well.

 

1. Never forget your friends. Friends are the most valuable assets you can have.

2. Never abandon a friend. If a person is truly a friends, then you should be prepared to help them woth anything, no matter how big or how small.

3. Never burn bridges. Always ensure that the door is left open from somewhere you have left, in case you feel the urge to return.

4. Always be hospitable. You never know when someone you have helped may be in a position to help you someday.

5. Learn to forgive and forget-baggage from grudges will slow you down as you get older.

6. Learn to forgive, even when the other person is not sorry. In this way you can become more advanced morally than most people ever can hope to be.

7. Learn to listen for knowledge in all things. There is wisdom everywhere, if you will listen for it.

8. Learn to focus on others, more than yourself. In doing this, you will become self-actualized, for in the abandonment of self, comes the realization of purpose.

9. Remember that nothing in this life happens by chance-there is a purpose and an intent behind everything. You must learn to seek out the hidden intents behind idle actions.

10. Remember that you have a purpose for your life. To ignore, or to deny, this purpose; is to blaspheme against your very nature.

I hope that you will take my advice in these matters-most of what I have learned, I have learned the hard way. I give you my advice so that you may learn from my failures, before you are forced to experience failures of your own.
