You only transform when you want to. And its normally quick. Although some people (like me) have to go through long and painful transformations

Oh wait. You said about when you "start transforming". I would guess that during the transformation, you'll probably be in a comatose state. But I'm not really sure.

just say you don't feel good when it gets bad. with luck, they'll leave you alone until your transformation is complete. or use an illusion to hide your wings.

Dont tell them. When it happens be like "Now I can reach that thing on the top shelf or something optimistic.

Picture their surprise when I end up coming down the stairs from my room and they see the pointed ears, and the altered chinlines. They're probably gonna have a heart attack. I
