Night Raider (Chapter One)

At his age of seventeen, Seth was both already able to convince the leaders of Night Raider and perform top rate healing spells. Not only that, but he was also a good student and kept a high attendance, which allowed him to skip school whenever he felt like it.

“Hey kiddo.” Lupeen greeted as she pulled out a chair for herself. Their “usual” meeting spot; was a small, dingy coffee shop that Lupeen’s husband had owned. She usually did most of the business though, since it was a known fact that Lupeen was busy with his “pack”.

“Hello ma’am Lupeen. Good to see you again.” Seth was the “polite one”. If compared to his hyper active, sugar loving younger sister, that was. He was just generally respected among the four leaders: Lupeen, Lupeen’s husband, the “King” Rowan himself, and Crooks. Grace is counted among the ranks, even though she spends much of her time training Raven.

“Polite as usual.” She smiles, the only one who isn’t serious, crazy, or just mischievous, Lupeen is like Night Raider’s mother. “It’s rare for you to skip school. I near had a heart attack when I saw that messenger today. Anyway. The usual?” She pulls out a notepad that she insists on being a waitress, so Seth plays along. “Of course.”

As she smiles and walks away, the door opens with a jingle and the King himself steps in. He is wearing his regular trench coat, with a very distinct Crooks following him in a long wrapped dress. Grace files in beside them in a long, white, and silk robe.

“Greetings, customers.” Madam Lupeen adds as she shuffles past them and behind the long counter. She did a good job with her “acting” as she referred to it. This, in reality, was just an immense amount of sarcasm. “What can I get you?”

“I think the regulars will be fine.” Rowan smiles fakely as he made his way over to the table where Seth was relaxing, his laptop set on the table as he typed a paper on it. “Hello Seth.” He pulls out a chair and takes a seat, Crooks beside him. Grace looks as if she is thinking, before she pulls out a seat and takes a spot besides Seth.

“Rowan. Crooks. Grace.” He nods with respect before shutting the Laptop and putting it in it’s proper place inside his shoulder bag. “Curious to see why I skipped school?”

“Very. I think I know why. Could it be the newbie, Crooks prediction, or Wyvern?” Rowan folds his hands on the table gently, his red eyes flicker cautiously around the small corner shop. His fangs are seeable out of the corner of his mouth. If the fangs, red eyes, or ancient age wasn’t enough of a hint for Rowan being a vampire, then Seth didn’t know what it would be.

“Wyvern. Plus, Crooks’ prediction. Red eyes….jeez, Rowan. Does this mean a vampire?” He cradles his fingers on the table, thinking closely. His blue eyes drift to Rowan and then Grace, and Crooks. Neither say anything.

“I think so. I guess will just have to wait. Until now. We should work on a plot to take down Wyvern in case of returning.” The King flicks his eyes mischievously towards the group.

The girl’s eyes are blank as she looks to the never ending portal. Why that is no one knows what it is? Why is she the only one who can see it…?

She is the only one who has been to the other side. Yet. She knows nothing.

“Christina Silvers. I’ve been looking for you.”

So another chapter.

There are Quotation Marks?

The mechanics are semi-hard to follow, but the story itself is great. Quotation marks would help a bit...
