Okely-doke. You came to learn exactly what constructs are, and how you can go about their creation. You'll have fun with constructs in this educational miniseries. You constructs can do anything you could possibly want - You just need to learn how to make them! So, let's jump into Lesson 2 - How Do I Program?

What is Programming?

Ever heard of a computer? Well, yes, you have, even if you're on a phone, or a Kindle, it's a computer. How do computers do what they do? They are programmed. People like me (except they have to be professional like my dad, not an amateur like me) write code, and feed it to a processor. How does this tie in to constructs? We psions get our energy "robots" to do what we want by programming them, or giving them commands.

Programming is usually achieved by pumping visuals into the construct, as it is hard to program in language. Word programming is usually for more advanced construct creators (I like to use word programming, as language is one of my hobbies).

Programming is used to turn your "robot" into a "robot". If it wasn't for programming, your "robot" would be nothing more than a lump of energy shaped into an object, silently waiting to dissipate. Today, I will be providing thee, my student, with a simple scenario requiring a specially programmed construct, this time featuring Pieman300.

The Scenario and the Word (Linguistic) Programming

Pieman300 wakes up, checks the calendar, and sees that it is Fgopl's birthday. He decides to send him a birthday card construct. He wants to include a gift of his energy, so Fgopl can run those tests he has been working on, that demonstrate the effects on the purification and mixing of various energies. He creates the card using the same method described in Lesson 1. He wants to preserve the energy he added, but he does not know how. He should use programming.

If he is advanced enough to use words for programing (pretty sure he is by now), he would think the following thoughts:

  • If you begin to run out of energy, do not take energy from my sample to survive. Take in mana instead.
  • When the forces of nature (such as wind and general construct wear-and-tear) try to make you dissipate, apply a slight outward force to stay alive.

Now, Pieman300 should not just think these thoughts: he needs to aim his thoughts into the construct. He needs to imagine the words forming into little thought bubbles, and being absorbed by the card.

The Visual Programming

He should be thinking of pictures to instruct the card.
