Never mind, just: False information given to young and potential psions to fully mature psions could drastically alter how they think about certain things to the point that they are oblivious to the truth, as well as being unable to fully manifest psionic ability, or even completely stop manifestation. In short, with the right words from someone you trust, you can lose potential for any psionic skills.
