You have to be at a decent level of mastery before you can check someone at their energy, De. Try scanning someone at close-range first. Touch their hand, and look for info on them. After doing that for at least 2 months (in my experiences) then you can do it at a distance.

my suggestion, is to study as much as you can and try to learn as well. When it becomes appropriate to practice, go for it. it might take a year though before you get to that stage. Sorry.
