Ello^-^ Me again ;D And Ive got some stuff to say, so please take the time to read this.

Thank you:3

Lately I've been seeing articles about humanity and why we have to change. Ive seen people say we can't do it, people can't change, blah blah we are doomed! DOOMED I TELL YOU! -Spaz attack- D:

The only thing I havent seen is a pratical way on HOW.

How can we change?

No matter how much you say we will, the words are empty unless you are actually DOING something.

We can complain and fight about it all we want, but it is not going to change a thing.

Which is why Im posting this article. I have ideas on how, ones that everyone can do. They may seem little, but trust me, they can make a BIG change.

Recently my science class watched a documentary called The Human Footprint. It shows how much resources an average American human uses from infancy to adulthood. Just ONE person.

Here is some of what it says:

For example, lets take an egg. Everyone eats those right? Well guess what, When you eat an egg, you are not just eating an egg.

You're eating the gas the truck used to deliver the egg, the coal burned to generate electricity to refrigerate the egg, and the other resources used to fry, boil,or poach that yummy egg. And that is your Human Footprint-How much of the world you use in a lifetime.

One American will eat about 19,826 eggs in a lifetime. That's 1.3 tons of eggs we eat, 57 hens laying them for one year of your lifetime's comsumption, and with hens producing 211 million eggs a day, that is about 77 billion eggs every year.

Another example:

How many diapers do you think a baby needs each day? A diaper may not seem like much, but it holds a lot more crude than you think.

An average U.S baby will need 3,796 diapers in a lifetime.

That is 715 pounds of plastic that you will use.

5.15 Barrels of crude oil to make those diapers, and about 6 tankers of oil for a year's supply.

Not to mention where all that crap goes o.o

More statistics:

You will eat 12,888 oranges

Chomp on 12,129 hamburgers

And use 31,350 gallons of gas.

Remember this is just for ONE PERSON.

And it doesnt end there:

Our human footprint doesn’t end after we buy and consume things; the final impact occurs when we discard items – and we Americans discard four-fifths of a ton of trash per person, per year. Most of your trash will go to a landfill, and dont even get me started on that >.>

Look. We ALL are leaving our footprint.

There is no Human/Nonhuman crap when it comes to this.

Only who will make the change, and who will not.

Anyway, one big thing we have to do is the 3 Rs.

REDUCE, REUSE, AND RECYCLE.

Reduce the amount you discard, reuse what you have and recycle as much as you can.

Here are some of the points that are listed on the website:

  • Donate used items. Once you’re ready to get rid of something, consider whether it still has some useful life left in it. If it does, donate it to charity.
  • Recycle it! You can recycle almost anything, from cans and bottles to clothes and computers. Don’t have recycling in your area? Then start up a recycling program! Talk to your local government. If they don’t support the idea, see if they can create a drop-off area where folks can recycle.
  • Buy recycled items.Choose things that are made from recycled materials, such as notepads and other office supplies made from recycled paper, or clothing made from recycled plastic bottles.
  • Buy items that can be recycled – and then be sure to recycle them.
  • Buy fewer things;buy only what you really need.
  • When you do need to buy something, buy it used. It will cost less and additional natural resources and energy won’t be used to produce it.

Ok, now realistically,

How many of you are actually going to do this?

Will you look at this article, say you will, and do nothing?

How many of you are actually going to DO SOMETHING.

I don't want you to say you will. Words are empty.

You want to save humanity so bad, will you take the action?

Will you take a stand?

Or are you going to sit back and do nothing?

We all want to change the earth for the better.

You can want things, but they are never going to come to you unless you do something about it.

I beilieve humanity can and will change, no matter what anyone says.

So if you want change, start with yourself.

Because if you can't even change yourself, how can you expect others to?

How can you reduce, reuse, and recycle?

For me I cant do much at the moment, but I can do the little things like turning off all the lights when I go to bed, or recycling all the water bottles I have in my room. Also turning off my tv when Im not watching it, or taking short showers.

Things that everyone can do.

They may seem little, but they make a big change.

Some more things I do that you can too:

Unplug your electronic when you arent using them.

Recycle what you can: Like old clothes, give them to a sibiling or take them to a charity. Recycle paper(: It will save a lot of trees.

For older people you can take the bus to school instead of driving, or pool.

Buy rechargable batteries, use natural things, just DO SOMETHING!

Everything counts.

If I can do it you better beilieve you can do it too >.>

The change starts with us(: So start changing!

If you want to find out more, look up NatGeoHumanFootprint. That where I got about all my information from. I would post a link to this cool interactive website that shows how much we really use, but I dont think I can post links to outside websites so just PM me for it I guess.

That is about all I have to say for now. Please no trolls or fights. Fighting will not help. AT ALL. So dont even try it >.>

Thanks for taking the time to read this(: And dont just read it, do some of the things I posted, or come up with your own. I dont care as long as you are doing something to help. ^-^

An article that's actually helpful on the matter. I make sure I do my part and reduce the red meat I consume, I reduce the amount of resources, and my recycle bins are always in use. These are simple things that can really make a difference if EVERYONE is on board. You don't have to go nuts with it, just take simple steps.

Wow. Nice article. I'm doing my bit. Doing a lot of recycling, I reuse anything and everything I can, especially carrier bags. I'm just one guy, but if everyone followed the 3 R's. we could make a huge difference.
