Before I go any farther...

As you know, I recently started a large series of articles that will go in depth in many different and sometimes unknown areas of psionics.

Before I go farther.

A few words on 'power', 'honor', and 'challenges'.

 

Power:

What is power, really? Is it the abilities we have? Is it our knowledge, and capabilities to gain more?

Always remember that what you define as powerful and wise is not necessarily someone else's definition. This means never, ever, downplay someone, you never know.

Honor:

In one word: stupid. It really and truly has no practical value. Honor stems from pride, which is universally known as a negative trait. Having a prideful manner comes in many forms, but the symptoms are apparent, you know precisely what I am talking about.

Defending yourself against a perceived threat to your honor is not an excuse to act on your basest impulses. You must learn to control yourself from within, as well as without. In reality, 'defending your honor', is merely attacking someone who has impugned your ego in some way.

Challenges:

Whoever said you had to accept?

I mean seriously, if you actually read what I said above, then you know that 99.8% of challenges are foolhardy and unwarranted. My advice-stay away, don't bother with the challenger, continue on and ignore him/her.

 

Ask yourself:

What is my goal with psionics?

Truly, what exactly, is the long-term goal here?

 

For me, enlightenment. By being in tune with the Universe, I am one step closer to my personal dreams coming true.

 

In conclusion.

Abusing your powers as a psion or mage:

What is the definition? What is the line that you cross?

In essence, you are abusing your powers when you use them simply to further your personal wishes and agenda at the expense of others. Humiliating them, attacks without cause, revenge, it is all abusing your powers, it truly is. Do not try to make excuses, call it what it is. I have abused them, we all have. We should strive to avoid it.

A thing to add:

Enlightenment is my goal, and, ultimately, is the goal wired into all sentient beings. We may deny it, repress it, openly mock it, but we all strive to better ourselves, it is sad that many hope to achieve this through debasing practices. Knowledge is a two-edged sword, what we know makes us who we are---to a point. I know of "black magick", as it is called, but am I a black mage? Certainly not.

Control your thoughts, do not let them control you. Knowledge is a tool, but a dangerous one indeed, and there are many things that should not be known except to those who are firm and steady in where they stand, else they be swept away by their own mad desires.

Thanks fgopl, I have a great many thoughts similar, each for a different person, and a different time. These were for you guys, and the time to say them was now. We are all tools of purpose, tossed on the waves of illusions of choice.
