A Serious Warning

As the years drag on, and psionics/magick becomes
more and more widespread, everyone of us must
eventually come to the realization that there are many
(about one in five hundred) psions that have the ability
to kill using their abilities. Now, I am not talking about
slow draining of life force over several weeks. Anyone
with half a working cerebrum can do that. No, I am
speaking of instantaneous killing. To illustrate, not
counting myself, I have identified twenty-plus other
psions spread thruought the Internet with the ability
to kill instantly, and many times, without breaking a
sweat. Fortunately, all of these individuals have
enormous self-control.

My reason in writing this is to address the more potent
and experienced psions here, in a serious discussion of
your abilities. There are several here who are either at
the level, or fast approaching it, where their abilities
can cause widespread death and devastation if they so
deign to cause it. Therefore, I believe it is necessary to
do something rarely done by me-namely, give you a
half-serious spiel.

As you grow stronger, do not let your ego expand with
your abilities, it will cause many problems for you
later on. How can this be? Think of your powers as a
loaded firearm. If you are carrying a firearm (concealed,
I would hope), will you say to other people. "I have a
loaded gun, and I can kill you with it, so don't mess
with me!"? Certainly not. Worse, would you pull that
weapon out and wave it around like an obnoxiously
inebriated reveler at a cultural holiday celebration, and
point it at people and make clicking noises? NO! The
same principle should apply to psionics. Back to the
ego thing. If you think of yourself as the big, bad, tough
Lord of Destruction, and you laugh and bully everyone
that dares even compare themselves to you, then you
have blinded yourself to anyone who could indeed  
match you. In my experience, the one you least expect
to be able to harm you will be the one who can hurt you
the most. He/she might have self-control, and tolerate
your shoving and insults for a while, but we all have
our limits, and eventually they are going to do
something to put an end to your harassing. The final
risk to consider is that of preemptory action. If you
flaunt your abilities among friends, make jokes like,
"I'm gonna kill you for that one, you sorry little $%#@"
Your friends might laugh, for they know it is all in fun.
But what of the newcomer who does not know you are
joking? If someone pulls a gun and points it at you,
and you happen to be carrying as well, what is your
reaction going to be? The same applies to psionics-
if you joke around and threaten someone in fun, they
may elect to take preemptory action, and strike you
down, for fear that you would make good on your
threat.

The overall point of this:
Don't make light of your abilities, or treat them like a
joke-they are not. Do not let your powers enlarge your
ego, for pride comes before a fall. I hope that this will
be well received by the users here.
